A Patriots locker room attendant who was given a ball by an NFL employee tried to introduce an unapproved kicking ball, or K ball, during the AFC Championship Game, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

But an interesting wrinkle: The league employee was in charge of collecting footballs for charity, which may not have been happening, after all.

Schefter had more details about the now-fired official when he appeared on “Outside the Lines” on Wednesday evening.

“That extended beyond the AFC Championship Game. That was part of a pattern of behavior that exists in this particular individual that culminated in him working that game and trying to get another football.”

In other words, this official had been selling footballs meant for charities on the side. This is a separate issue from Deflate-gate, but it might not have been discovered otherwise.
