According to ProFootballTalk’s Mike Florio, Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis — who will be released March 9 — wants at least $8 million from any team that signs him. Florio cites anonymous sources “having familiarity with” Revis.

At $8 million, Revis would be the 17th highest-paid cornerback in the league, according to Spotrac.com. He was expected to make $15 million playing for the Jets in 2017.
If Revis’ asking price is not met, Florio reports, Revis will likely sit out the season and receive $6 million in guaranteed money from the Jets. The reason: If Revis signs with a team for $6 million, New York would owe him nothing because of offset language in Revis’ Jets contract. Revis would not gain any extra salary. If he signs for $7 million, he would get just an extra $1 million in salary for the season.
GATTO: Revis got reprieve with pending release
NFL teams will likely be wary of signing the 10-year veteran, money issues aside: Revis, 31, is in the middle of an ongoing legal matter stemming from a Feb. 16 brawl in Pittsburgh, and he is coming off his worst statistical season in 2016, one in which his desire to play seemed to wane.
