Browns general manager Ray Farmer released a statement following the league’s announcement.
Gordon recently opened up about his abuse problems in an open letter from The Cauldron. In the letter, Gordon admitted to having a few drinks on an airplane. He was under the assumption his drug testing ended when the season ended, but he was in fact still subject to testing.
The 23-year-old was suspended for the first 10 games of 2014. He caught 24 passes for 303 yards in five games this season. In 2013 he led the NFL with 1,646 receiving yards in 14 games.
