The former three-time college football national champion coach is taking a survival-of-the-fittest approach to cutting down his roster from 90 to 53 players. Meyer is pitting his players against each other in one-on-one drills to help his staff determine who should make the Jaguars’ final roster this year. They are calling it “Winners and Losers Day,” and the first one took place last Wednesday. The league issued two motions in a Nevada state court on Wendesday– One to move Gruden’s lawsuit to arbitration the other to dismiss the lawsuit all together. Casey was docked $15,750 for unnecessary roughness for a horse-collar tackle on running back Zac Stacy during the Titans' 28-21 victory, the NFL announced Friday. Casey was penalized on the play. Turns out the NFL actually does have an offseason, contrary to popular belief, and it has announced offseason workout program dates for all 32 teams. The NFL’s offseason workout program is broken into three phases: strength/conditioning/rehab, on-field workouts (no live contact) and organized team activities, also known as OTAs. All teams began their offseason programs before the NFL Draft, but OTAs were not scheduled to begin until a couple weeks after the draft....

Just after Chargers linebacker Justin Jones recovered the ball, Bosa, who was credited with the sack, walked away from the pile, adopted a rigid stance while pretending to hold a rifle of some sort, and did a surprisingly accurate rendition of the infamous teabag move performed by players in many online games. But Sunday saw a different type of football, and a different type of protest, at the famed stadium. The NFL contest between the Baltimore Ravens and Jacksonville Jaguars saw widespread protests of U.S. President Donald Trump during the American national anthem. Many players took a knee during the anthem, while others locked arms along with coaches. The only locked up playoff seed is the AFC’s top seed, which was secured by the Chiefs with a win in Week 16. That’ll give Kansas City a first-round bye and allow Andy Reid to rest his stars in Week 17. But the NFC still has three teams in the running for the top seed. Both the AFC South and NFC East are still up for grabs. And all told a number of playoff spots could switch hands depending on what happens on Sunday, Jan....

While Philadelphia’s loss of injured quarterback Carson Wentz hurts its chance at a Super Bowl run, the Eagles at least can clinch a first-round bye this week with a win and some help from teams in other games. Philly also has a chance to clinch homefield advantage throughout the NFC playoffs. Both teams had a week off after clinching the top seeds in their respective conferences. While both teams are positioned strong heading into the playoffs, it is worth noting that the week of rest hasn’t always benefitted teams in the past. Last year, both No. 1 seeds were knocked off in their first playoff games. Will that happen again in the 2023 playoffs? The two teams are each facing opponents whom they played during the regular season, and they collectively went 3-0 against their divisional-round foes....

The Ravens, behind likely MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson, will enter as the No. 1 seed in the AFC and the favorites to win Super Bowl 54. The defending champion Patriots’ Week 17 loss to the Dolphins pushed them to the No. 3 seed and allowed the Chiefs to enjoy a first-round bye. The NFC picture is more crowded. The 49ers are the No. 1 seed, but they won’t be favored too significantly over the Saints, Packers, Vikings and Seahawks....
